SPCA of Monterey County Takes CAMP Fire Animals 11-14-18 21:00 DC

The SPCA for Monterey County sent a team to the Camp fire on Wednesday to pick-up animals who were already in shelters before the fire started. These animals, already eligible for adoption, will be placed with families in the Monterey area, the SPCA said.

Bringing the 27 dogs and cats to Monterey clears shelter space in Butte County for animals belonging to fire evacuees. The Monterey SPCA said it is also ready to help shelters impacted by the Southern California wildfires.

Meanwhile, The Santa Cruz County shelter is already housing animals brought to the county by fire evacuees who are staying with friends and family in Santa Cruz, but lack housing for their animals.
