SC Council Approves San Lorenzo River Bridge Trail 11-13-18 17:43 DC

The Santa Cruz City Council today approved a new 10-foot wide trail to replace the existing 4-foot wide walkway on the San Lorenzo River Railroad Trestle Bridge.

The Trestle Trail Project will provide direct bike/pedestrian access between the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the Seabright neighborhood and the Santa Cruz Riverwalk levee path and downtown Santa Cruz.

The bike/pedestrian path will be made of steel with fiberglass decking. Horizontal cable railings will replace the current chain-link fence. It will be approximately 306 feet long and connect to the existing access ramps at each end of the bridge.

The $2.03 million Trestle Trail Project is slated for completion before Memorial Day 2019 — just in time for the increased number of summer season bicyclists and pedestrians.
