UPDATED: Santa Cruz Shelter Helps Evacuated Animals 11-12-18 07:14 DC

If you are hosting family or friends from the fire evacuation areas in northern or southern California and housing their evacuated animals is a challenge there is help available.

The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is prepared to help by opening the shelter to animals in need of safe, compassionate housing and care.

For animals belonging to residents fleeing the Camp, Woolsey, or Hill fires, the shelter’s Safekeep Program provides temporary, no cost boarding for those who can not keep their animals with them. The Shelter has already taken in several animals from the area of the Camp Fire whose guardians are staying with family or friends in Santa Cruz County.
