55,000 SCCO Votes Remain Uncounted 11-08-18 14:30 DC

Santa Cruz County Registrar of Voters Gail Pellerin reported Thursday afternoon that her office has an estimated 55,000 ballots that remain to be counted from Tuesday's election. Here are the details she provided:

We have submitted our Estimated Unprocessed Ballots Report to the Secretary of State. Our ESTIMATED numbers are as follows (this is the number of ballots we still need to process and add to the count if the voter is found to be eligible to vote):

Vote-by-Mail: 45,350

Provisional Ballots: 6,390

Conditional Voter Registration (Same Day) Provisional Ballots: 2,078

Other (includes unprocessed ballots that are damaged, need to be remade, or require further review): 1,265

Total = 55,083

Vote count updates will be posted online at http://www.votescount.com/Home/Elections/November6,2018CaliforniaGeneralElection/1118Canvassupdate.aspx

Because this is roughly the same number of ballots that were counted and reported Tuesday night, there is the possibility that outcomes in close races, such as city council could changes when these additional votes are counted.
