Firefighters remain on the scene of a vegetation fire at 730 Fuel Break Rd. on the UCSC campus near Pogonip Park. The more than 3-acre fire broke out during Wednesday morning commute hours. Forward progress has been stopped, but the fire is difficult to approach and is burning in ground cover, which is difficult to quickly extinguish. Firefighters expect smoke in the area for several days. This is not the Rincon Fire burning in Paradise Park.
