Big Money Sought to Fight Prison Addiction 10-12-18 07:20 DC

Last year, a record 39 California inmates died of drug overdoses. The Associated Press reports that 8-out-of-10 California prisoners are substance addicts.

The federal official who controls medical care in California prisons is seeking as much as a quarter-billion dollars a year to provide medication intended to prevent overdoses among 13,000 prison inmates. The estimated cost for the program ranges to $252-million-a-year.
