Monterey Co Massage Parlors Often Lack Required Trafficking Posters 10-12-18 05:35 DC

California massage parlors are supposed to have signs posted that give “what to do” information to human trafficking victims and to anyone who suspects it might be taking place.

Monterey County police and volunteers yesterday went out looking for the posters that show the massage parlors are complying. The discovered many were not.

The signs should be hanging in windows but were found only in about a third of the massage parlors visited. Businesses without the posters were given 30-days to comply and face a first time fine of $500 if they do not.

This was the second crackdown in Monterey County and focused on peninsula cities. An inspection of Salinas massage parlors in being planned.
