Santa Cruz Police and Fire officials today said they are investigating more than 20 fires that have been set in the city since July.
This is a follow-up to yesterday’s release of surveillance video investigators say they believe show a man who vandalized the Tannery Art Center and set two small fires nearby early on August 22.
They say all the fires – and maybe some additional blazes – are suspicious and they believe more than one suspect is responsible.
Police have released video of at least one suspect. The fire department says none of the fires have done serious damage, but with fire season still underway the next arson fire could get out of control and do serious damage.
