Firefighters worked overnight battling a Monterey County wildland fire near Greenfield. The Metz fire broke out around 3:30 PM Thursday in rugged terrain near Metz Road. The blaze is 60 percent contained and has blackened more than 400-acres so far.
Hand crews, air tankers, helicopters, and engines has been working the blaze, which is in terrain too steep for bulldozers to be safely used.
