Salinas Downtown Housing Increase 09-14-18 04:04 DC

The Salinas City Council next week will consider a proposal to make it easier for downtown buildings to be converted into housing. The city would like for 500 more housing units to be created downtown over the next five years. Under the proposal, old downtown buildings, such as the Salinas Californian building, could be converted to residential or mixed-use.

The Salinas council will consider the issue on Tuesday night. The Rabobank and Dick Bruhn buildings are already being converted.
