The presence of the West Nile Virus has been confirmed in Santa Cruz County. A dead crow was recovered in Live Oak near 30th Avenue between Moran Lake and Pleasure Point on June 13th. The bird was examined by the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) West Nile virus program and determined to be infected by the virus. No human cases have been reported this year to date.
