A fine has been assessed against the contractor that sickened 15 farm workers with pesticide last year. An investigation determined Watsonville-based Los Amigos Harvesting was acting as an unlicensed contractor when it over sprayed pesticides, hospitalizing 15 of 24 workers on a neighboring farm. The company was fined 56 thousand dollars the largest fine ever levied by the Santa Cruz County Agricultural Commissioner.
