An investigation has broken up an illegal fireworks importing operation. Cal Fire investigators arrested seven people across the state for the 30 year old illegal fireworks distribution ring. More than 115 thousand dollars in cash and more than 49 thousand pounds of fireworks were seized from locations in Copperopolis, Modesto, Salida, Hayward, Walnut Creek and Oakland. Fireworks start an estimated 18,500 fires in California annually.
