The rowers taking part in the Great Pacific Race, which goes from California to Hawaii, set off from Monterey last night. All crews were making solid, if slow, progress into the wind…..as they fought to round the Monterey Peninsula and head off into the ocean. Rowers expect to spend 2 months or so at sea, while they cross 2400 miles of open ocean.
