A 29 year-old passenger, who was not wearing his seatbelt, died in a solo vehicle accident early this morning. The 18 year-old driver sustained minor injuries when he lost control of the vehicle on Southbound Highway 1, and it went down a steep embankment north of Mar Monte Avenue. The passenger, who was ejected from the vehicle, was declared dead at the scene, and the driver was transported to Watsonville Community Hospital. Fatigue is reported to have played a part in the just-before-3 a.m. accident.
