420 DUI Arrests-4/22/18-1659-PMD

The California Highway Patrol is reporting that at least two people were arrested in connection with a UCSC 420 celebration. A crowd of 2 to 4 thousand people were expected to gather for the annual impromptu cannabis celebration at the university. Even though recreational marijuana is now legal in California, smoking of any kind is prohibited on UC campuses. The offense is punishable by fines of up to 500 dollars. The CHP set up DUI checkpoints on and near the university. The first pot DUI was on High Street of a man who had been smoking on the way to the event.
