Increased Development Fees    03-21-18        T.A.

(10:55) Santa Cruz County - According to UC Santa Cruz researchers, the least affordable County to live in is Santa Cruz County, and the City of Santa Cruz is 1 of the top 5 least affordable cities in the nation.  Yesterday the Santa Cruz Board of Supervisors voted to raise a fee paid by developers constructing affordable housing.  The funds raised would be used to address issues related to affordable housing.  The new ordinance would raise most commercial developments from $2 per square foot to $3.  A decision to adopt the updated fees will be discussed at the board’s next meeting, which is scheduled for Tuesday, April 10.
