Sexual Harassment Lawsuit   03-07-18       T.A.

(09:15) Aptos – The Cabrillo College Governing Board announced on Monday that they settled in a sexual harassment lawsuit that was brought against the College and one of its instructors.  Cabrillo College agreed to pay a former student 350-thousand dollars.  The former female student and teachers aide filed the suit in May of 2016  alleging the math instructor, Alex Taurke, repeatedly harassed, sexually assaulted and sexually battered her.  The suit accused Cabrillo of failing to comply with Title IX, a federal civil rights law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex.  As a result, Cabrillo has since hired a full-time Title IX coordinator and compliance officer.
