Due to declining populations of Abalone, California wildlife officials are recommending that the recreational abalone fishing season be shut down for 2018. The Fish And Game Commission expects to make their final ruling on that tomorrow at a meeting in San Diego. 37 percent of abalone shells spotted recently were either empty, or had decaying abalone, inside. Abalone feed on kelp, and there has been a massive kelp die-off.
