Food Recycling In PG 11/20/17B 18:22 S.S.
31 tons of organic material has already been diverted from local landfills because of a new food recycling program in pacific grove. The city, and Monterey Regional Waste Management District, started accepting food scraps at the Pacific Grove Farmers Market in September. Because its composted commercially, they accept the dairy, meats and breads, along with the material that most home composters collect. M.R.W.M.D. then takes the food scraps and turns them into energy and compost. The Farmers Market is held from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Every Monday, and people are welcome to bring their food scraps there.
