The Santa Cruz County Emergency Winter Shelter Program is debuting an expanded program this year. On Wednesday the North County Winter Shelter will open at 721 Laurel Street, and on November 24th the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7263 on &th Avenue in Live Oak will open its shelter. The combined shelters will offer a 30 percent increase in beds. The shelters will remain open until April 15th.
