Cal-Fire suspended its “air attack” on the Bear Fire for an hour this morning, as the result of someone flying a drone in the area. Flying drones over an active wildfire is not only illegal, it puts the firefighting pilots in danger (due to the possibility of a mid-air collision). That’s because aerial firefighting aircraft fly at very low altitudes, sometimes just a few hundred feet above the ground.
