THE  SANTA  CRUZ  COUNTY  OFFICE  OF  EMERGENCY  SERVICES  SAYS  THAT  ALL  COUNTY  WEBSITES  ARE  DOWN  DUE  TO  A  CONSTRUCTION  ACCIDENT  TODAY.  RESIDENTS  ARE  ASKED  NOT  TO  CALL  DISPATCH  OR  THE  OFFICE  OF  EMERGENCY  SERVICES.    COUNTY  OFFICIALS  HAVE  RECOMMENDED  CHECKING  FOR  UPDATES  ON  THE  BEAR  FIRE  BY  LISTENING TO KSCO,  OR  GOING  ON-LINE TO:  SantaCruzCountyFire.com

 

MORE  THAN  600  FIREFIGHTERS  ARE  WORKING  TO  QUELL  THE  200-ACRE  BEAR  FIRE  THAT IS  BURNING  NORTH  AND  EAST  OF  BOULDER  CREEK.    THERE  ARE  MANDATORY  EVACUATIONS  IN  BOTH  THE  DEER  CREEK  AND  LAS  CUMBRES  COMMUNITIES  (THAT  ARE  LOCATED  BETWEEN  BOULDER  CREEK  AND  LOS  GATOS.  On the Bear Creek side there are mandatory evacuations on:

Bear Creek Canyon, Sunset Ridge, Hartmen Creek, Lost Valley, Golden Ridge, Hawk Ridge, Don's Road, Ron's Road, Double Bear

On the Las Cumbres Side the homes evacuated are on:

Las Cumbres, Favre Ridge, Beatly Ridge, Grizzly Rock, Miller Ridge, Reed Knoll Road, Knuth, Skyline Boulevard (1/2 mile east of closure), Oak Ridge, Skyline Ridge

EVACUATION  CENTERS  ARE  SET  UP  AT  THE  ZAYANTE  FIRE  STATION  IN  FELTON,  AND  LAKESIDE  ELEMENTARY  SCHOOL  AT  19,621  BLACK  ROAD  IN  LOS  GATOS.     THE  BEAR  FIRE  IS  CURRENTLY  5  PERCENT  CONTAINED.
