Santa Rosa Fire Update     10-17-17   12:00   J.B.

(12:00) California News: Sonoma and Santa Rosa County Fire Fighters are cautiously optimistic as the have lifted several of the evaluation mandates in the North Bay beginning yesterday. The number of evacuees in the area has been reduced from over 100,000 to 40,000- though the fire continues to burn and the skies remain smoky. The number of missing persons has been reduced from the original 1,000 to 88 in Santa Rosa and 19 in Napa. The official death toll of the fire is 41, including one fire worker that was confirmed yesterday morning. Evacuation numbers are expected to reduce once again as PG&E restores power and gas to many areas.
