Update:  Bear Fire    10-17-17   T.A.

 

(07:45) Santa Cruz County – A wildfire is currently burning in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Bear fire was first reported about 10:30 last night, with a confirmed structure on fire at, 825 Bear Creek Canyon Road.  Flames spread from the home into the trees and vegetation.  Mandatory evacuations have been issues for:  Bear Creek Canyon Rd, Deer Creek Road, Ron’s road, Don’s Road, Lost valley, Farve Ridge, Oak Ridge and all smaller connecting roadways.  The fire is estimated to be about 125 acres and is moving north towards Las Cumbras.    There is zero percent containment a this time.  Boulder Creek Elementary will be closed today and has been set up as an evacuation center.    The address is, 400 West Lomond Street.  A second evacuation center has been established at Lakeside Elementary School, 19621 Black Road, in Los Gatos.
