September 21, 2017: Food Insecurity in Monterey            

(06:50) Monterey – The Monterey County Food Bank held its annual meeting yesterday.  This meeting is held every year to discuss the best ways to feed as many hungry people as possible.   The Food Bank maintains the situation is currently dire, with Monterey currently ranking 58th out of 58 counties for food insecurity.   Congressman Jimmy Panetta was the keynote speaker at the event.   Congressman Panetta, who is a member of the U.S. Agriculture Committee, spoke about the importance of food distribution, nutrition, and his goals for the county.   Last year the food bank donated over 10 million pounds of food to 150 non-profits in monterey county alone.
