The Salinas Fire Department is warning businesses of a fire extinguisher scam. The scam has been ongoing for nearly a decade. Officials say that individuals approach business claiming to be inspectors or fire marshals. The department says only uniformed fire department members perform inspections, and to report any contact from fake inspectors to The Salinas Fire Marshal at 831-758-7466.
