A 43 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a vehicle, kidnapping a child, and child endangerment. That after Raymond “Turtle” Gutierrez stole a vehicle shortly before 5 a.m. this morning in Soledad, when the infant’s father ducked back into the house to grab something (after securing his child into his car seat. An “Amber Alert” was broadcast about an hour later, and an hour after that a lady called the San Jose Police Department, saying there was a child in a car with a man that appeared to be under the influence of drugs. The caller reportedly then removed the carseat (and baby) from the suspect’s car, and the suspect fled the scene in the stolen car. The baby has been returned to his parents, and later in the day Gutierrez was arrested after he was spotted in Salinas….still driving the vehicle noted in the Amber Alert.
