(14:52) SANTA CRUZ- On Friday the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office reported that community were receiving calls from a scammer. The calls were from 415-347-9850 claiming they were members of the Sheriff’s office. The scammer then informed the victim that they had missed jury duty and if a fine is not paid they will be arrested. They instruct the victim to purchase Green Dot cards and that after payment is made they can go to the Sheriff’s Office to receive a receipt. The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that no government agency would never ask for payment over the phone.
