April 25, 2017: Two South Monterey County Fires

(07:45) Monterey County – Firefighters put out two separate fires in South Monterey County yesterday.  Cal Fire reported that the first fire started at 11:30 a.m. in the King City area near the intersection of Highway 101 and Jolon Road.   The three acre grass fire included an area adjacent to the base of a power pole.   A second fire in the foothills, east of the Soledad City limits, was reported a short time later.  The Fire grew to eight acres.   Firefighters reported that the grass fire started due to the sparks from the grinding and cutting tools that workers were using.   There were no reports of injuries or structure damage in either incident.  Cal Fire wants to remind the public that wildfire season is approaching and firefighters are asking residents to be aware of current weather conditions as well as to be cautious when using power tools.
