(09:30) Santa Cruz – A UC Santa Cruz celebration resulted in at least 3 arrests and hundreds of people receiving citations yesterday. The UC Santa Cruz police department reported that 3,000 to 4,000 people showed up to the annual 4/20 celebration. There were 3 arrests for serious offenses at a DUI checkpoint that was set up near campus. 67 year-old Robert Spaniel, of Los Banos, was arrested for having an illegal gun, 41 year-old Deemone Hopkins and 43 year-old Melanie Hillard, from Boulder Creek, were arrested for counterfeit cash and mushrooms. There were 120 parking citations, about 100 traffic citations, as well as citations issued for possession of marijuana.
