(09:15) Watsonville – A trial date for eight defendants in a shooting that left an 8 year old girl and 33 year old man dead in Watsonville has been set. The eight men face murder and gang-related charges in connection with the shooting that killed 33 year-old Ramon Rendon and 8 year-old Jaelyn Zavala. The incident took place almost three years ago on October 10, 2014 outside a Main Street restaurant. Rendon, a rival gang member, was shot in the parking lot from two different angles. Zavala, who was waiting in the restaurant for her mother, when she was shot and killed by a stray bullet. A trial date has been set for September 25, in Superior Court.
