After 22 years on the bench, a Monterey County Superior Court judge says he is planning to retire next week. Superior court judge Albert H Maldonado plans to return to private practice while he determines what he wants to do next. For the majority of his judicial career, Maldonado has been assigned to criminal matters. Prior to becoming a judge, Maldonado served in the U.S. Army, receiving a Bronze Star, and a Vietnam Service Medal.
