The last chunk of the Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge has finally fallen. The next step will be to get the chunks of bridge (and other debris) out of the canyon below. Crews at Mare Island are working to fabricate the girders for the new 320 foot-long bridge. The pieces of the new column-less, single-span, steel plate girder bridge ,are expected to start arriving in Big Sur in May, and Cal-Trans hopes to have the new Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge completed in September.
