(10:55) Santa Cruz County – California Highway Patrol reported at 9:45 this morning that highway 17 is shut down in all directions due to unsafe road conditions. Traffic going northbound can only go as far as Granite Creek, and southbound traffic can only go as far as Summit Road. Big rigs cannot pass over Soquel-San Jose Road, drivers are being told to use Highway 101. This is an indefinite closure; the mudslide location is extremely unstable.
