February 10, 2017: HWY 17 Closed in all Directions

(10:55) Santa Cruz County – California Highway Patrol reported at 9:45 this morning that highway 17 is shut down in all directions due to unsafe road conditions.    Traffic going northbound can only go as far as Granite Creek, and southbound traffic can only go as far as Summit Road.   Big rigs cannot pass over Soquel-San Jose Road, drivers are being told to use Highway 101.    This is an indefinite closure; the mudslide location is extremely unstable.   Highway 17 is expected to be closed for at least 24 hours, but it may take longer to reopen.    For more information on road closures go to sccroadclosure.org
