(06:45) Santa Cruz County – The City Of Santa Cruz declared an emergency water shortage yesterday (Wednesday). Crews have been trying to repair the Newell Creek pipeline after the storm caused a leak Sunday night. The Santa Cruz Water Department reported that efforts to repair the pipeline on Tuesday were unsuccessful and residents are urged to continue to cut back on water use. Residents are asked to take these actions over the next several days to a week:
• Less frequent showers/baths
• When showering, shut off flow when lathering
• Flush the toilet only when necessary
• Postpone laundry
• Use paper plates instead of washing dishes
• Warm water on the stove instead of running it to get hot
• No outdoor water uses of any kind
