(09:40) Salinas – Salinas City leaders have announced that Oldtown has a new name and is now called Salinas City Center.  In addition to a new name the downtown area also has new businesses that offer retail shopping as well as new restaurants with outdoor seating.  Existing businesses such as Taylor Farms and the First Capitol Bank have relocated to the City Center.   The Tuesday’s Tree lighting ceremony kicked off a week of events in the Salinas City Center.  Tomorrow (Saturday) is “Forget the mall and shop small” day.  This event encourages shoppers to support local small independent merchants.  There will be games, carolers and special deals.   On Sunday the Christmas light parade will take place down Main Street at 6 p.m.
