(16:22)MONTEREY- The traffic fatality that closed Highway 1 in Monterey on Tuesday night was due to a fleeing suspected drunk driver. Authorities say that a patrol officers pull over a 26 year old Del Rey Oaks man on suspicion of DUI. During the stop the man tried to run from police into freeway traffic and was struck by two vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The northbound lanes of the roadway remained closed until shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday morning while an investigation was carried out.
