Cal-Am Rate Hike Proposed 10/19/16B 19:56 S.S.

MONTEREY PENINSULA – The California Public Utilities Commission has given preliminary approval to Cal-Am Water Company to hike their rates by as much as 26 dollars per month (for an average single-family residential customer). The increased costs are designed to help recover the nearly $40-million of “under-collected revenues” (from 2013 and 2014). The new rate plan would also eliminate the current system, in which customers are billed based on the number of part and full-time people living in the household. The C-P-U-C is scheduled to revisit the proposed new Cal-Am Rate Plan when they meet December 1st.
