MORGAN HILL – A Santa Clara county judge has set a firm start date for the trial of a man accused of abducting (and killing) a Morgan Hill teenager 4 years ago. 15 year-old Sierra La Mar disappeared as she walked to school one morning in march of 2012. If 22 year-old Antolin Garcia-Torres is convicted on all of the charges against him, he faces the death penalty. Opening statements for the murder trial are now scheduled for January 3rd.
Prospective jurors are having to answer 178 questions, to determine if they are eligible (and able) to serve on this jury. The trial is expected to take approximately 6 months.
