October 18, 2016: Update: New Information on the Deadly Force Shooting

(10:00) Santa Cruz – The identity of the man who was shot in the deadly forced shooting by a police officer on Sunday has been released. 32 year-old Sean Arlt was shot two times as he approached 4 police officers with a wood handled metal bow rake.  Police were dispatched to a Chase Street home around 3:30 Sunday morning when they were told Arlt was threatening to kill all the people who lived at the residence.  After refusing to drop the rake officers used a taser three times in an effort to stop Arlt from advancing closer.  Police were backed against parked cars and were within 10 feet of Arlt when a single police officer shot him twice.  The case is still under investigation to determine if the correct protocol was used by the officers.  All four officers are currently on administrative leave.
