MONTEREY PENINSULA – Construction is scheduled to begin next month on a 7-mile water pipeline, that will allow Cal-Am to comply with a cease and desist order from the state. The pipeline is designed to deliver 3,500 acre-feet of water per year to the Monterey Peninsula, so cal-am can stop depending on pumping excessive water from the Carmel River. The water will come from the Pure Water Monterey Groundwater Replenishment Project And Aquifer Storage Project. The pipeline project is expected to be completed late next year.
