(13:57) SANTA CRUZ- An investigation into the use of deadly force by a Santa Cruz police officer is underway. Authorities say that at about 3:30 a.m. yesterday morning (Sunday) officers responded to reports of a deranged 32 year old man menacing the occupants of a home on the 200 block of Chace Street. When police arrived at the scene the individual was at the back door of the residence threatening to kill everyone inside. As the subject attacked police with a metal rake, tasers were deployed, when tasers proved ineffective an officer shot the man. Police performed CPR until medical crews arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene. The incident may be related to a similar confrontation earlier in the week. The deceased identy is being withheld at this time.
