(8:21) SANTA CRUZ- A Santa Cruz based addiction treatment center celebrated 40 years of service to the community on Friday. Janus of Santa Cruz was founded in 1976 to treat those with struggling with drug and alcohol dependency. Since then the organization has grown to 130 staff members implementing 12 programs which have helped thousands recover from addiction. At Friday’s ceremony honorees included 19 year board member and former Capitola police chief Rudy Escalnte, Bill and Brigid Simpkin, and Assemblyman Mark Stone for supporting AB 848, which allows nonprofits such as Janus to provide health care practitioners for medical services
