(08:00) Monterey – Due to a recent rise in crimes in the South Monterey County, Law enforcement agencies organized a gang and parole sweep. Yesterday (Wednesday) police arrested 13 people and confiscated weapons and drugs. One of the reasons the sweep was prompted was because of the recent arrest of a gang member who robbed convenient stores in Greenfield, Gonzales, and Monterey. The Greenfield Police department worked on the sweep operation with other with other law enforcement agencies in Soledad and King City. The law enforcement agencies worked together to promote communication between them and to help reduce gang related crimes.
