July 6, 2016: Coastal Commission, Opal Cliffs Recreation District Officials to Meet to Address Privates Beach Access

(08:30) PLEASURE POINT – Representatives with the California Coastal Commission will be meeting with Opal Cliffs Recreation District officials this week to address accessibility at Privates Beach in Pleasure Point. There is a gate at the beach that can be opened with a key purchased at a local surf shop. The commission recently decided that the gate is in violation of the California Coastal Act and asked the district to remove the gate by June 30 or face fines. The gate is still standing; however the commission has not yet levied any fines in anticipation of this week’s meeting. (S.G.)
