June 28, 2016: Santa Cruz Aims to Triple Littering Fines Before July 4th

(08:06) SANTA CRUZ – Santa Cruz officials are poised to pass an emergency ordinance that will triple fines for littering. The city council wants to see the new law enacted quickly in anticipation of Independence Day weekend. Currently, anyone who is caught littering in Santa Cruz is fined $30. The new law would increase the fine to $150. Local environmental advocacy groups have partnered with the city to inform residents and visitors of the new ordinance. (S.G.)
