(18:01) SALINAS – Although  the  Salinas  City  Council  voted  to  ban  Safe  And  Sane  Fireworks  (along  with  all  other  fireworks),  area residents  have vote d to  reverse  that  ban….but  the  reversal  won’t go  into  effect  until  after  July  4th  of  this  year.    In  fact,  the  legal  date  to  have,  and  set  off,  safe  and  sane  fireworks  is  July  12th.    The  fine for  igniting  a  firework  in  Salinas  this  year  will  be  12-hundred and 50 dollars,  and  based  on  the  city’s  new  “social  ordinance”, property  owners  who  allow  people  to  set  off  fireworks  on  their  property  could  face  fines  (between  500  and  15-hundred  dollars).  People in Salinas, who see others setting-off fireworks,  are encouraged to report those crimes (and share photographs) by going on-line to www.SalinasFireworks.com, or calling (831) 758-7321, OR, in case of fire, call 9-1-1.
