(17:45) SALINAS- Salinas police are searching for a driver that led officers on a high speed vehicle chase yesterday (Thurs) morning. Authorities say that shortly before noon a patrol unit attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle in the downtown area. The vehicle sped off and a pursuit ensued, but was called off for safety concerns after the chase entered a residential zone. During the chase a passenger jump from the car and was slightly injured. The vehicle was found abandoned on Archer Street. The driver is believed to have escaped into the neighborhood. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Salinas police.
