May 2, 2016: Quarantine on Sport-Harvested Mussels in Effect

(07:23) CALIFORNIA – A quarantine is now in effect on sport-harvested mussels gathered along the California coast. The Department of Public Health has issued the advisory to prevent paralytic shellfish poisoning and domoic acid poisoning. The quarantine includes all species of mussels in all bays and estuaries along the coast. The advisory does not apply to commercially harvested shellfish. (S.G.)
